You can now request a test  for COVID-19 online

If you have one of the following symptoms you are able to be tested for COVID-19;

  • fever,
  • new cough or worsening chronic cough,
  • runny nose, headache,
  • sore throat,
  • new onset of fatigue,
  • new onset of muscle pain,
  • diarrhea,
  • vomiting,
  • loss of taste or smell
  • OR if a child is displaying purple fingers or toes (even if it is the only symptom)

If you are concerned about a potential exposure to the virus, please note that it can take up to five (5) days before you would test positive after being exposed to COVID-19.

Timing is something to be considered when completing the self-assessment and submitting a request to be tested, please ensure that you self-monitor for symptoms. 

If you were a close contact of a confirmed positive case, Public Health will contact you with directions on when to be tested.

Testing process

Once you have submitted your request to be tested online below or have contacted Tele-Care 8-1-1 or your health care provider, it can take up to 24-48 hours for our test assessment centres to contact you and schedule your appointment.

TeleCare 8-1-1 can refer you for a test but does not have access to test results or the testing schedule.

Do I Need to Self Isolate?

If you have only one symptom, you do not have to self-isolate while you are waiting for your test or the results. If you have two or more symptoms, you must self-isolate between the time you arrange for your test and you receive your results.

Once you’ve been tested, it can take up to four days to receive your results and follow directives. Information on how to access your online results via My Health NB will be provided to you by the assessment center staff when you have your test completed.

Even if you receive negative results, it is important to read the information given when accessing your test online.
